ISSER, in collaboration with the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), organised a training programme for personnel from various units of GSS.

The training, which was the third in a series, took place at the Survey Data Lab of the Measurement, Learning and Evaluation Unit of ISSER from May 3 to 6, 2016.  It was under the theme “Finalising the 2013 Ghana Social Accountability Matrix”. At the start of the programme, the Director of ISSER, Prof. Felix Asante welcomed participants and provided an overview of the programme.

ISSER and GSS have over the years engaged in collaborative research work, the latest being the  building of the capacity of some officials at GSS to update the Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) and analyse the Ghana Living Standards Survey 6 (GLSS6) data.

The purpose of the training, according to Ms. Jackie Annum, Assistant Chief Statistician of GSS, was to finalize earlier training and train participants to update new figures that may come in subsequently.   The resource persons for the training were Mr. Joao Rodrigues and Ms. Adeline Yeh from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) office in the USA.
