The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research, ISSER University of Ghana   organized a 5-day training workshop from Tuesday, 16th July to Tuesday, 23rd July, 2019 for its senior and junior staff. The objective was to strengthen their capacity and increase their work effectiveness and efficiency.

Opening the training, Dr. Simon Bawakyillenuo, Acting Director of ISSER and Head of Statistical and Survey Division urged participants to take the training serious and allow the knowledge acquired impact their work.

Participants were taken through contents on Team Building; Records Management Processes; Critical Thinking, and Language and Communication Skills. The workshop was very interactive as in a school setting testing participants on their understanding. Participants were actively involved in practical exercises and at the end of the workshop they showed signs of elation at having such depth of knowledge imparted to them.

Speaking at the closing session, Ms. Eccles Andoh, Administrative Secretary of ISSER expressed her gratitude to the facilitators for their delivery. She noted some interesting topics such as Coping strategies, Causal reasoning and Language Focus which participants could imbibe. The Administrative Secretary re-emphasized the need for all to read books to improve their writing skills, grammar and speech delivery. Ms. Andoh was grateful for the support and interest shown by the staff.    

The facilitators were: Prof Gordon S. K. Adika, Director, School of Languages, Dr. Richmond Kwesi, Department of Philosophy and Classics, Mrs. Emelia Nartey, Human Resource and Organizational Development Directorate (HRODD) and Mr. Leo Wood, Archives, (HRODD), all from the University of Ghana.
